In 2017 we were contacted by an Oxford family, to design a large extension to their existing house. This became a single story, two-sided structure of 56 sqm, which wrapped around the original house to create more living space for the family. Internally, it featured an enlarged dining room and kitchen at the rear, with a completely new living space along the side elevation. This included a new living room, kitchen and bathroom. A new porch structure at the front of the house, and a removed internal wall completed the works. It was designed in a conventional, modern style to match the exiting buildings aesthetics, as per planning requirements. Externally this meant a roughcast render, with loadbearing walls of blockwork filled with cavity insulation, and a cut roof covered in matching single lap tiles and bitumen roofing felt.
